Party with the gods in Rishikesh

Religion appears to be everywhere in India. Hinduism seems to be full of gods and stories, but not everybody tells the same story. Of the 1000 gods and goddesses, some are just more popular than others. Shiva with his cool long dreadlocks, and Hanuman with his monkey face are our personal favorites.

We were lucky to be in Rishikesh, like Haridwar, a pilgrimage place, for the Dussera festival. The very intelligent (hence the many heads) devil king Ravana was killed by brave Lord Rama. The reason for a great musical ritual with dance, puppets and a lot of fireworks !

Getting prepared for the evening (Ravana still smiling...)

Ravana exploded ! The crowd ran away and Vanes lost her shoe.

Trying to climb up to a waterfall. Yes, Dutch people are not used to mountains...

Finally there! Alive and all, ready to bath in ice cold water
