Lao people take it easy. Their motto is not to work too hard, but rather enjoy life. Stress seems to be a word unknown in the Lao dictionary. Their laidback and friendly attitude makes Laos a very enjoyable place to be. We've met nice people who shared their favorite hobbies with us.
First of all: petanque! Laos used to be a French colony, as part of Indochina. After the French left, petanque (or jeu de boules) stayed. It's played everywhere, and very well, although it's often more about drinking beers than accurately throwing balls.
Vanes showed her disappointing French skills. (We lost against a fun English couple... that says enough)
After a good game, it's time for karaoke, at any hour of the day.... (we ended up dancing on Britney Spears at 4 in the afternoon) !
Karaoke is no joke. Check out the professional set up.
Some good Lao pop songs...
...and even in Laos they know the Hermes House Band "I will surviiiihiiiiive!!!!"
